* $599 + HST * 5 classes (3 hrs each) * 15 hours total * Level 2 (students must have completed a Level 1 sewing machine course and be comfortable with sewing basics and threading/using the machine) * Supplies not included Want to learn how to make your own clothes? Explore the world of commercial patterns, pattern adjustments, garment alterations, fabric essentials, and the principles of garment construction. You'll make a skirt fit for YOU and take an important step towards sewing your dream wardrobe! Skills taught: - grainlines - getting your fabric 'on grain' - selecting the right fabric for your project - how to take proper measurements - how to work with commercial patterns (and how to pick the pattern that best compliments you!) - invisible zipper installation - pleats - darts - basting - how to use interfacing - altering your pattern and skirt for that custom fit Our project: - skirt Here's a list of the items you will need: - basic sewing kit (see below for a list of items) - commercial pattern (approved patterns will be discussed in class, please wait to purchase) - fabric and notions for your projects (specific details to be discussed in class) Sewing kit: - a spool of thread (we love 100% polyester, all purpose thread) - pins - pin cushion (or container) - fabric scissors - flexible measuring tape - sewing gauge - seam ripper - tailor's chalk - tracing wheel - tracing/transfer paper - hand-sewing needles There will be fun homework in this course (purchasing fabric for your projects, washing it, cutting it out) but this takes time. Please be prepared to do your homework outside of class. NOTE: Project supplies (i.e. fabric, commercial patterns, etc.) are NOT required for the first class, and it is important to wait to purchase your project supplies until we have discussed all requirements in class. NOTE: The first two classes are mandatory. Please be sure of your schedule prior to registering.

CANCELLATION/NO REFUND POLICY ​ ALL COURSE FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERRABLE (i.e. your course fee can only be used for the particular course and time frame that you register for). Please make sure that you are certain of your availability and comfortable with this policy prior to registering/processing payment. NOTE: If The Sewing Junction needs to cancel a class for any reason, your class fee will be fully refunded in this case only. ​ ​ ATTENDANCE POLICY ​ It is your responsibility to attend your classes and arrive on time. If you need to miss a class, please notify your instructor as soon as you can. If there's another suitable class available for you to join, you're welcome to attend one make-up class. NOTE: All make-ups are subject to availability/not guaranteed and must take place in the same week as the missed class. NOTE: Attendance of the first class is mandatory for every course. For our "Learn To Sew" course, the first two classes are mandatory. ​ ONLINE PURCHASES ​ While we appreciate class registration and interest, there may be times that we will need to cancel, correct, or decline class purchases, and we reserve the right to do so at any time. An opportunity for a full refund will be provided in this case.
