Service Description

* 7 classes (2.5 hrs each) * $310 + HST * 17.5 hours total * Level 3 (must have completed 2 garment construction courses or equivalent) Let's make pants! Learn how to get a great fit, and enjoy weekly demos on belt loops, pockets, fly front zippers, and more! Skills taught: - how to assess fit (tissue fitting, making a muslin) - how to adjust your chosen commercial pattern - 6 new sewing techniques (see list below) Demonstrations: Week 1 - how to assess fit and adjust your commercial pattern Week 2 - front hip pockets Week 3 - inseam pockets Week 4 - fly front zipper installation Week 5 - waistbands (stitch-in-the-ditch) Week 6 - belt loops Week 7 - machine blind hem NOTE: Supplies not included. Here's a list of the items you will need: - sewing machine - iron and ironing board - basic sewing kit - commercial pattern - fabric and notions for your project (specific details to be discussed in class) - the appropriate presser feet for your sewing machine (e.g. for zippers, buttonholes, etc.). Specific details to be discussed in class. If you would like to pick up supplies at our studio, just email to place your order! We carry: - a large selection of notions (thread, chalk, pins, zippers, interfacing, hook and eyes, rulers, pressing tools, and so much more) - commercial patterns (Vogue, Butterick, McCall's, Burda) - sewing kits Here's a list of the items in our sewing kit ($42 + HST): - a spool of thread (100% polyester, all purpose thread) - pins - pin cushion - scissors - flexible measuring tape - sewing gauge - seam ripper - tailor's chalk - tracing wheel - tracing/transfer paper - hand-sewing needles There will be fun homework in this course (purchasing fabric for your project, washing it, cutting it out) but this takes time. Please be prepared to do your homework outside of class. NOTE: Project supplies (i.e. fabric, commercial pattern, etc.) are NOT required for the first class, and it is advisable to wait to purchase your project supplies until we have discussed all requirements in class.


CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY ​ ALL COURSE FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Please make sure that you are certain of your availability prior to registering/processing payment. If your schedule changes and you provide 5 days notice or more, only then can we offer you a credit to be used towards a future course or workshop. If we need to cancel a class for any reason, your class fee will be fully refunded in this case only. ​ ​ ATTENDANCE POLICY ​ It is your responsibility to attend your classes and arrive on time. If you need to miss a class, please notify your instructor as soon as you can. If there's another suitable class available for you to join, you're welcome to attend one make-up class. If a suitable make-up option is not available, you can schedule a private or semi-private lesson at your convenience.
